Rescuers
There were many Nazis harassing the Jews, but there were also some people who were willing to risk their lives helping the persicuted. This came in many forms. Some people helped Jews escape from concentration camps, and others helped by hiding people in their homes. All efforts were needed. Keep in mind that not many people were rescued. Most Holocaust stories end sadly. Rescuing was just an interruption in the normal chain of events

My poem
From the perspective of Miep Gies
in the diary of Anne Frank
a pattern # 3 poem
The People
The people of the annexe, a world beyond the bookshelf, sat in silence,
grabbing at the little food
arguing about politics
valuing their safety
longing to go outside
waiting for their doom.
